Police Recruitment Notification: Protest of Unemployed youth

By A. Sadanandam Eco on 22 Jun 2026

Unemployed youth and job aspirants in Telangana have held massive protests in Hyderabad (specifically in areas like Dilsukhnagar and near Chikkadapally Library), demanding that the state government increase the proposed police recruitment to 20,000 constable posts instead of the announced 5,000 vacancies.Key aspects of the protests and demands:The Core Demand: Demonstrators argue that 5,000 posts are highly insufficient given the large number of aspirants who have spent years preparing. They are demanding notifications that align with the 20,000 to 30,000 vacancies allegedly cited by Congress leaders during their previous election campaigns.Police Action & Clashes: Protests have turned tense, resulting in traffic snarls on major routes. Police have utilized force, including alleged lathi-charges and preventive detentions, to disperse crowds and clear the streets.Political Fallout: The police action drew sharp condemnation from opposition parties, including the BRS and BJP. Opposition leaders have accused the government of failing on their campaign promises to provide two lakh government jobs within a year.Broader Grievances: Beyond the number of vacancies, aspirants have also raised concerns regarding financial hardships, age-related difficulties, and the relaxation of the upper age limit for job seekers.
